I wrote this for Lord Marduk, aka the Egyptian god Amon Ra, Lord of the Sun.
Marduk
I sing to you, O Marduk, Amon Ra, Lord of the Sun!
I fly with your falcon over the gardens of Babylon.
King of soaring battlements, towers high and strong!
We fly over the great white city.
You stand in a courtyard, your raiment shining.
The golden crown is on your brow, and the scepter of ruling in your hand.
We sit beside the fountain, the waters of which bring wisdom and power.
The crystal water gently falls, gently falls, and we sit at peace.
O gracious, wise one, one of those who shine! Impart to me some of your great wisdom, for I would be your pupil.
Hark, the clear bells that ring at the suns rising! They speak of joy, wisdom and victory.
O Marduk, God of the Double-Headed Axe, I ask that you unleash your mighty wroth upon my enemies! Bring down storms to ravage their flesh, and astral swords to rend their souls!
The sun is setting, casting long shadows on the waters of the fountain. Long we had remained there, speaking of things arcane and ancient.
You beckon to me, and point towards the east. I see a beautiful palace, shining white in the setting sun’s rays. “This is my home,” you say, and smile. “Will you visit me there for a while? I shall teach you many things.”
I smile at you and nod. “Yes, my Lord, I would be most honoured. Gladly will I stay with you a while.”
And so we go to your palace that is like the sun in its brightness and beauty. We sit at your great table, and we drink of sweet wine and other nectars. We break bread together, and eat it with golden honey.
Many, many things will I learn from you, my Lord of the Sun, and I shall sing your praises to the sky. A great teacher and friend you will be. I am now content.
Hey, I'm probably not a good judge of poetry, but good work.
Thanks. Lol.
